Durante 1995, U2 reapareció con Hold me, Thrill me, Kiss me, Kill me, una pieza de glam rock para la película Batman Forever, producida por Nellee Hooper. A finales de ese año, colaboraron en Original Soundtracks 1 de Brian Eno. Lanzaron el álbum con el seudónimo de The Passengers, pasando inadvertido ante la crítica.
